“We decided to book our wedding ceremony at the Town Hall because we had previously attended a function there and loved it. The inside of Colchester Town Hall is beautiful, and I love all the detail in there. The rooms are big and the staircases are amazing. I also think the Mayors Parlour has character which is why I chose to have our wedding ceremony in there.

The reception was held in the Moot Hall which had ample room for us to eat and celebrate our marriage. From the moment we booked the wedding, through to our actual wedding day the staff were amazing. They were always happy to assist us where needed and answer my long list of questions. The Town Hall is also really reasonably priced for such a picturesque venue. We attended a wedding fair at the Town Hall and got most of our wedding suppliers from this. The staff even moved tables and chairs the day before to ensure I was happy with the set up. My wedding day was a day to remember and all our guests commented on how beautiful the town hall was. I would recommend Colchester Town Hall to anyone.”

Our wedding was on July 23rd 2015 and it was very special for us to have our ceremony at Colchester Town Hall. From our flat we can see the bell tower of the Town Hall and so it is a special place for us as we get to see the place we got married every day! From the very start the help we got from the Town Hall team was great, they were friendly and put us at ease at what can be a very stressful time when planning a wedding. All our guests commented what a lovely venue it was and what character the Mayor’s Parlour has. We also had access to the balcony which was the icing on the cake and gave my husband and I a valuable brief period together after the ceremony alone for photos before rushing off for the reception.”

“As soon as we had a tour of the Castle and met with the team, we knew that we were going to have an unforgettable wedding ceremony. The staff were very responsive to any queries we had no matter now trivial. On the day, the venue looked beautiful and the staff were very clear guiding us through the ceremony. I can honestly say the Castle is a superb option for a wedding and worked very well with guests having access to the museum ahead of the ceremony. Please accept our huge thanks.”

“We chose the Castle because I am from Essex originally and lived in Colchester in the Dutch quarter for years, so the Castle has long standing sentimental meaning to me. We actually got married in Scotland, local to my husband’s parents, and the Essex celebration was a church blessing and then drinks reception at the castle. So we had a celebration local to each of our families.  We wanted something a bit different and which reflected our personalities so the museum and historic setting was ideal. Our guests loved it and many of those local to the area hadn’t been inside for years and were amazed!”

“We got married here in September 2015 & had the most amazing day. The team were fantastic from start to finish and any questions we had were always answered quickly and efficiently. The venue is stunning and we were able to invite all our 115 guests for the entire day which was so important to us. We would highly recommend to anybody looking to book their wedding here!”

“We wanted a unique and fun setting to hold our wedding in March 2016, and Colchester Castle fit the bill perfectly. The gorgeous ceremony space felt intimate and looked stunning even with very little decoration. We used the adjacent Charles Grey Room for our meal and we loved that we could open the large doors for a view out over the museum gallery while we ate. This also meant that guests arriving for the evening reception could listen to the speeches and not feel left out. After our meal, the ceremony room was transformed into a dance floor and bar which comfortably fit our 150 guests. As we had free reign of the museum it meant guests really got into learning about the history of the Castle – with several of them getting their hands on the dressing up box – this was fantastic as it meant that there were no ‘lulls’ in the day – there was always something to keep everyone entertained. Finally, the wonderful, and knowledgeable staff at the museum truly pulled out all the stops to ensure the day ran as smoothly as possible and we had a perfect first day as Mr and Mrs Lewis.”

“We were really looked after at the Town Hall when we had our wedding ceremony there in November. The team were really helpful in helping us prepare all the little details of the ceremony, from music and flowers, to the legalities and timings. On the actual day we were both so nervous, more than we had anticipated, but the staff put us at ease and were really helpful throughout. All of our guests commented on the beautiful Council Chamber where we got married – it had all the unique beauty of a church wedding but without the religious connotations, plus a really intimate setting for our 65 guests. A day we will never forget!”
