The Council Chamber
The Council Chamber is one of our most unique ceremony rooms here at the Town Hall…
With the layout of the room and its beautiful furnishings, it echoes the feel of a church.
It houses wooden pew-like seating and impressive stained glass windows illustrating the history of Colchester. The circular Chamber itself is adorned with oil paintings, murals, and the unmissable painted dome ceiling showcasing a beautiful classical depiction of the twelve months of the year, commissioned by artist Charles Baskett.
The seats in this room are fixed in a spherical fashion, and so offers an intimate feel to the room. It also has a balcony so you can get some unique aerial shots of your ceremony as well as the stunning surroundings of the Chamber.
This suite can hold: 70 guests for a ceremony.
Please note that unfortunately food and drink is not permitted in the council chamber and we are unable to host receptions in this room.

“We decided to book our wedding ceremony at the Town Hall because we had previously attended a function there and loved it. The inside of Colchester town hall is beautiful, and I love all the detail in there. The rooms are big and the staircases are amazing. They were always happy to assist us where needed and answer my long list of questions. The Town Hall is also really reasonably priced for such a picturesque venue.”
