The Moot Hall

 

Taking its name from the original Town Hall…

…The Moot Hall is the largest of our function rooms and is adorned with baroque architectural features. We host the infamous Oyster Feast every year in this suite as the Town Hall has done for centuries, and we hold the annual Mayor Making event here along with other civic functions too.

Equipped with an advanced AV system, colour changing column uplighters which can match your theme, and the use of the Moot Hall Organ during your ceremony if you wish, we have the entertainment covered.

The room has a stage for your DJ or band, as well as a balcony which can be used for some fantastic aerial photographs of your wedding party.

The suite is blessed with an extremely high arched ornate ceiling and natural daylight pours through the three tall stained glass windows depicting the history of Colchester; perfect for capturing memories of your big day.

This suite is ideal for larger celebrations and can hold:

  • 300 guests for a ceremony
  • 160 – 200 guests for a wedding breakfast (depending on layout)
  • 200 guests for an evening reception

The Moot Hall is situated on the top floor of the Town Hall…

…and can be accessed by the grand staircases, or alternatively we have a lift which stops at the top floor. There are male and female toilets on this level, as well as a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities.
