…the Grand Jury and West Committee Rooms are truly beautiful.

Set within the Town Hall, a building of rich heritage, this space contains Colchester’s Mayoral Regalia and the Borough Mace used by the Town Sergeant for major civic events. A distinctive carved oak panel above a marble fireplace provides a stunning backdrop for pictures with loved ones.

With the warm light of the chandeliers glistening off the gold accents of the room, the space boasts a sophisticated style and is the perfect setting to host your memorable day.

In addition, you can also hire the Mayor’s Parlour, where panels of vellum framed in oak display the names of all the Mayors of Colchester alongside another exquisite fireplace for you and your guests to admire and enjoy. There is also access to the Balcony offering a dream photo opportunity where you will feel like absolute royalty looking at the town below.

Special permission is sought from the Mayor to hire this space out. The hire fee (incorporated in the main hire fee) is donated directly to the Mayor’s charities.

Details

The Grand Jury and West Committee rooms are located on the first floor of the Town Hall…

…and can be accessed by climbing the first marble staircase, or alternatively we have a lift which stops at the end of this floor. The Mayor’s Parlour is located next door. There are male and female toilets on this level, as well as a disabled toilet. The room is fully accessible.

From the very start the help we got from the Town Hall team was great, they were friendly and put us at ease at what can be a very stressful time when planning a wedding.

All our guests commented what a lovely venue it was and what character the Mayor’s Parlour has. We also had access to the balcony which was the icing on the cake and gave my husband and I a valuable brief period together after the ceremony alone for photos before rushing off for the reception.
